In October of 2006, nearly 200 individuals took part in the Tidelands Health Foundation's first Breast Cancer Awareness Walk. The walk was established to help provide free mammography services for individuals without financial resources or government assistance. Each year our community has come together to support this fund and make a difference to all that attend.
Every October, we are happy to see new and returning registrants. We listen to far too many stories of individuals on their breast cancer journey or the memories of those who have lost their battle to breast cancer. We come together to support and cheer each other on while celebrating this special time with our community. Due to Covid-19, out of concern for the health and safety of our participants, sponsors, staff and our entire community we decided to go to a virtual event. We have extended our fundraising efforts throughout the month of October and now more than ever, we need your help.
Let’s go virtual!
Saturday, October 2 will be the virtual kick-off of a month-long effort to show our support for those who are facing breast cancer, those who we have lost and our survivors. When you register to walk, you will receive a t-shirt and goody bag. Survivors will receive a special goody to make you stand out. Your registration fee is a donation that will help patients and families who are facing cancer in our community.
How to get your t-shirt and other event items:
T-shirt pick up will be held from 9am – 4pm each day on Wednesday, September 29, Thursday, September 30 and Friday, October 1. If you are unable to pick up your shirt during these days, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will work out a pick up time for you.
T-shirt pick up will be located at Waccamaw Medical Park East 4033 Hwy 17 Bypass, Suite 104, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
Note: Due to visitor restrictions at Tidelands Health facilities, individuals and Team Captains who drop by the Foundation office to pickup items cannot be accommodated this year.
Proceeds from the In the Pink Breast Cancer Awareness virtual event will continue to benefit the Tidelands Heath Foundation's Breast Care Fund, a part of the Tidelands Health Cancer Care Network. This fund provides free mammography services for individuals without financial resources or government assistance.
Although we’re apart, we’re together in this fight.
